Berin & Tara

We are thrilled to announce the addition of Berin Macfarlane as our new Head of Horse Development.  Berin is joined by his wife, Tara Trimble DVM, who takes on the role as our new ranch veterinarian.  Jake & Helen returned to their homeland in Australia to raise their family at the start of the New Year.  We were sad to bid them farewell but support their move, while welcoming Berin & Tara to our team.

Most recently Berin had been teaching the extern program at the Parelli Centers in CO & FL, while Tara had been working for a prominent veterinary practice in Ocala, FL.  They are now residing here at the ranch.  Berin, 4-Star Parelli Professional & Senior Horse Specialist, will be putting on clinics from time to time so stay tuned to the events page on our website.  Tara will look to expand her practice called Synergy Equine, specializing in sports medicine & acupuncture.

We are glad to employ their expertise & teamwork.  Welcome!

Jake, Helen and Lochlan

We are thrilled to announce that Jake and Helen (Topp) Shoemark will be joining the team here at Atwood Ranch!

Jake is taking on the role as  Head of Horse Development.  He will be instrumental in our yearling pre-school program, as well as starting colts under saddle.  Jake’s interest in horses began when he was 10 years old living on the land in Australia, working with cattle, sheep and horses.  His desire to excel with horses lead him to work for and study directly with Pat and Linda Parelli.  Jake’s passions are caretaking of the land, horsemanship, cow savvy, stock dogs, rawhide braiding and his new young family.

Helen, although her primary role will be caring for their young son, Lochlan, will also be involved in the ranch operations.  She will partake in our foal imprinting, assist customers with yearlings, and teach clinics here at the ranch.  Helen passed her Level 3 in Australia when she was just 15 years old.  She then followed by taking several horses to Level 3 before being offered a scholarship to study directly with Pat and Linda.  She has traveled extensively with the Tour Team, taught at both campuses, and been involved at the corporate level.

We are excited to welcome Jake and Helen and are looking forward to their involvement on all levels!
