Atwood Ranch stallion, Mr Skyline Peppy, has joined the Parelli Performance Team for the summer and fall months.  Skyline is an accomplished cutting horse with nearly $250,000 in NCHA earnings to his name.  We are excited to have the first of his Atwood foal crops on the ground now and look forward to starting them in our Parelli Pre-School Program next year as yearlings.  Stay tuned to Parelli Tube for highlights from horse shows and cuttings where you can see Skyline in action!

ELVIS SIGHTING IN SAN DIEGO

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Margit Deerman, Parelli Professional from San Diego, CA recently acquired her own “King of Rock n Roll” in the form of her new Atwood Ranch partner, ‘Elvis’!  This handsome palomino gelding was turning heads from the time he was born — not in Memphis but in Orland.  Elvis’s registered name is AR One Smart Alibi.  Sired by One Smart Peppy and out of a mare named AR Im Convinced, Elvis has both cutting and reining in his blood.  Margit is eager to tap his potential and says, “I am excited to see his progress as we continue through our journey together.”  For more on Margit’s story see the Testimonials page of our website.

COLT START AT THE PARELLI CENTER

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

On a recent visit to the Parelli Center in CO we were fortunate enough to watch Pat instruct a Colt Start class with his Mastery students.  Seven of the nine young horses were Atwood bred and so it was a special treat for us!  Pat went over the finer points of the process and those little details that make a difference to the horse.  He reminded his students to take the time it takes, yet not to dilly-dally  and miss opportunities to progress.  By the third day, the young horses were being ridden out, confidently following cattle in the field.  The AR horses were stars and we took special pride in observing.  (For us it was like watching our kids perform in their first school play!)  The filming crew was present each day and excerpts will be used on future episodes of The Horseman’s Apprentice.
